Access Statement for Mullacott Park

Introduction

Mullacott Park is a holiday facility in North Devon. We are a development of high quality luxury lodges that are sold as second homes for all year round holiday use.

The Park consists of 50 holiday lodges (privately owned), 51 privately owned luxury lodges (personal use only) and 30 privately owned static caravans (personal use only).

Mullacott Park offers a site shop that sells papers, groceries, sweets etc, and a coffee lounge that seats 30 people and offers sandwiches, pastries, coffee, tea etc. Both the shop and coffee lounge provide level access. There is also a launderette on site that is accessed by 2 steps. It provides washing machines, tumble driers, a sink, an iron and ironing board. All machines are front loading and coin operated. Lighting is very good. Service washes are not available at these facilities. The floor in this area is ceramic tiled.

There is provision for dogs to be tied up outside reception and the shop. Assistance dogs are welcomed within most areas. At the bottom of the Park there is a field for dog exercising, signed and accessed between lodges.

General Information

The majority of the Park benefits from block paved road surfaces with tarmac surfacing around the reception area, with the entire Park being gently sloping. In certain pedestrian areas between lodges we have provided small sets of steps with hand rails provided.

Every accommodation unit on the Park provides parking for at least one car adjacent to the lodge/caravan. Some areas accommodate a maximum of 2 cars, however there is plenty of parking provision at the main reception/office area where cars may be left with parking permit displayed.

All general documentation provided by the Park is in a standard font size but can be provided in larger print upon request. Confirmations are also provided by e-mail where possible, so font size can be enlarged.

For guests on arrival there is a welcome pack supplied in the lodges and personal verbal information about the Park, its layout, directions etc. Reception opening hours vary from 8.30am – 5.00pm to 8.30am – 7.00pm in the peak season. Outside of reception opening hours an emergency service is available, but please be aware this does NOT equate to a 24 hour service.

Local information is displayed in the shop and coffee lounge. Tourist Information Centres are located in Ilfracombe (01271 863001) and Woolacombe (01271 870553).

Mobile telephone coverage is generally very good throughout the Park, and WiFi is available in our Coffee Lounge free of charge.

Telephone numbers for a doctor and emergency services are provided in our lodge information packs and in reception. First Aiders are available on site for emergencies.

Bus public transport is very convenient at the Park with bus stops being located near reception; access can be made by a number of steps or via the entrance therefore avoiding the steps. The nearest railway connection point is Barnstaple which is approximately 12 miles away, this being the nearest major town. The surrounding villages are Ilfracombe (2 miles), Combe Martin (8 miles), Woolacombe (4 miles), Braunton (5 miles) and Croyde (7 miles).

Barnstaple town centre has a Shop mobility scheme which offers loans of scooters, manual and powered wheelchairs. There is a membership fee to pay plus a refundable deposit for the loan of the equipment. The equipment is booked by telephone on 01271 328866.
